The vibes at Taku are immaculate. Our crew stopped by Taku to pre-game a nearby dinner.. but mainly we just wanted to escape the Seattle downpour. Taku is a tiny bar/eatery that serves up Furikake, Chicken Karaage, and a number of other fried goodies. What really makes this place stand out is the atmosphere. You feel as if you're instantly transported to Japan with tight bar seating and anime decorating every available surface. Ordering was super easy and all done through a QR code at the table. While they're famous for their fried chicken buckets, we decided to skip this experience since we had dinner reservations elsewhere. It's possible that we ordered their weirdest mix of items yet: Pop rock jello shots and spam fried rice. The jello shots were surprisingly delicious. I was very close to ordering multiple rounds for the table! They were sweet with just the right balance of alcohol. I also loved their spam fried rice. It was the perfect pre-dinner snack and helped balance out the drinking. Note that this restaurant is 21+

The karaage was phenomenal! It was juicy with a nice light crunch, and even a little sweet. The furikake on the fries is a game changer, and the fries themselves were both crispy and not too greasy. The Japanese tartar sauce was soo good too! The restaurant is cute and a little small for that close, good vibes feeling.

I have been wanting to try this place out for a longggg time and finally did. Came here on a Monday night lol so it was pretty empty. I got their drink that comes with a pokemon card (the main reason I wanted to come here was to get a card lol ) and it was really good!! I'm someone who don't really enjoy the taste of alcohol but like have a drink sometimes with friends and this was perfect. I also got the big bucket of chicken and fries, it was huge and the 3 of us couldn't finish it. The chicken pieces were really big and juicy. The fries were pretty normal but I like how they gave us extra sauces!!

Calling all Top Chef fans! I was lucky to see him there in person! Regular chicken combo curry dry ($15) - three large crispy tender karaage chicken pieces and furikake fries. The curry powder provided a light spice. At first glance I thought the serving size was a bit small but I was satisfied after I finished my meal. We were given pretty much all the sauces offered. I thought the yuzu kosho ketchup was the best!

Tasty chicken, super crispy, and a good value especially if you get the bucket to share (easily feeds 4 people). The place is super fun, covered in stickers with anime playing on the TV, very on theme. I wish there were more sauce options, as the current ones were all not my taste and too overpowering for eating with chicken (also ordering more sauce is expensive...50 cents for some ketchup...) Drink selection was great, loved the Jell-O shots with popping candy

Taku was great! If you're looking for chicken this is your spot. I had the spicy chicken sandwich and this thing is large! I had to knife and fork it and it was spicy but not too much. The Mac salad was also good. I love getting a Mac salad in conjunction with something spicy as it helps to reduce the spice when you have bites in between.

Probably one of my favorite restaurant bars in the CapHill area! Even though it's karaage, it's simple yet done so well. It's juicy, not too much breading, and tasty. Kind of a scam but you have to order sauce for an extra fee (only 0.75 cents but still). Highly recommend the yuzu kosho ketchup. Their drinks are fun and give a nice buzz. Their jell-o shots are creative with the addition of pop rocks. You order and pay on your phone and service was fast for a Saturday night. The tables are a bit awkward as you can be a tight corner. It's long and narrow with somewhat limited seating. This place is a great for a smaller parties (maybe 4 max).

I've been a fan of Shota since Top Chef, so I was excited to try Taku on my visit to Seattle. Taku is a hip, late night spot. If you're a Top Chef/Food Network fan expecting some fine dining experience or menu, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for a fun, casual place to grab a bite where karaage chicken is the name of the game, it's worth a stop. I placed a to-go order online. They estimated a 20-30 minute wait, but it was actually ready in 10 minutes for pick-up. My food was packed and ready to go in a brown paper bag with my name on it. I ordered the regular chicken combo - bonito and soy (dry) which comes with a side of furikake fries - $15 before tax and tip. The chicken was really good! It had a nice crunch on the outside, but was still moist on the inside - some of the best cooked fried chicken that I can remember having. It would benefit from a dipping sauce, which is offered on their menu as an additional side. I decided to forgo the sauce at the time of ordering (so that's on me) - I would definitely order a sauce next time. I also enjoyed the furikake fries - crispy fries and nicely seasoned. Taku is an accessible Top Chef restaurant that won't break the bank.
